SOMANI at the forefront of healthcare innovation with the TEX4WOUNDS project

Somani - Sociedade Têxtil, S.A. is the leader of the TEX4WOUNDS project, linked to the development of a range of products for cleaning, debridement and wound care. These articles will be developed with advanced textile materials, such as terry web mesh structures, functional fibres and natural additives for impregnation.

The range of products includes dynamic, absorbent and healing-promoting dressings, namely a laminar structured dressing for superficial and shallow wounds and a structured nuclear dressing aimed at deep local type wounds.

The objective of TEX4WOUNDS is to develop an effective response at a competitive price in the treatment of wounds through research, technological development and innovation, taking into account the cost, constraints, difficulties of using dressing materials and the social and economic impact of injuries on users, caregivers and health systems.

This project started on July 1, 2021, with a completion date scheduled for June 30, 2023, and has a total investment of 1,193,071.42 euros. It is being developed by R&DI teams endowed with the necessary skills to guarantee an adequate execution, which allows enhancing their results through the added value and the degree of innovation of the final products.

To ensure the success of this project with the Portuguese flag, it was created a consortium with complementary skills, consisting of two companies (SOMANI and FOURMAG) and two entities of the R&I System (Centro Tecnológico das Indústrias Têxtil e do Vestuário de Portugal - CITEVE and Universidade Católica Portuguesa - UCP).
