Somani, a leading Portuguese textile company both nationally and internationally, specialised in manufacturing knitted and terry products, has been focusing on today’s emerging topics, such as environmental preservation and social sustainability, combining the know-how gathered over more than three decades with the latest technologies.

With this in mind, the company set out to respond — effectively and with a forward-looking approach — to issues such as the growing concern for children’s health and well-being, by offering its entire product range in organic cotton. This choice allowed Somani to obtain, and maintain for several years, the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) certification.

Alongside this, Somani invested in the production of an eco-friendly knitted terry: energy-efficient and durable (it lasts 2 to 3 times longer than conventional terry), it reduces water consumption (drying up to 40% faster) and lowers the amount of cotton used in the manufacturing process. The result is a differentiated product, adapted to current market trends, that embodies a global ECO awareness.

Somani also holds the international OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certification and the SMETA (Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audit) social audit, powered by Sedex — credentials that firmly associate the company with Sustainability and Innovation.
